About the Artist
Jane Fairhurst is a UK based artist who discovered her talent when she began painting flowers as a child. She went on to study at Liverpool College of Art in the early 1970’s and after many years painting and exhibiting she returned to Liverpool to study and gained her MA with distinction in 2010 from John Moores University.
Jane is the founder member and a trustee of Cross Street Arts, a lively and well-established studio group based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. She exhibits both nationally and internationally.
Working across a range of media Jane uses research to underpin her practice and whether working with paint, textiles or mixed media her work is often a platform to talk about issues that range from critiquing capitalism, environmental concerns and why women have been left out of our human story.
She is attracted to craft and technique as it requires dedication to material and following many years working across a range of media in 2019 made the decision to follow her passion and concentrate on her skills as a painter.
