Sarah Feinmann

About the Artist
Sarah Feinmann is a visual artist based in Manchester.  Her work responds to place, investigating surfaces and artefacts that expose their materiality, revealing their history.  She takes photographs wherever she is, focusing on the textural qualities and capturing the visceral elements of a moment in time. Her photographs are of the overlooked, that others would pass by. Her eye is drawn to edgeland spaces, reflecting moments of loss.
In creating and arranging the coloured panels, she is exploring the subdued, weathered colour of edgeland spaces. Many of the photographs that she takes surround her as she works, providing inspiration in composition, texture and colours. They subconsciously influence her approach and effect how the painted collages emerge.  Through construction, dismantling, and remaking she continues to work until she achieves the desired result.
