Halima Cassell, MBE, FRSS

Influenced by the Venn diagram, Venn uses simple closed circles and ellipses to illustrate a state of being or relationship in perfect balance, visually representing the similarities and differences between two.

Mary and George Watts were both very spiritual and in balance with one another, and both used the spherical form across their work.

Inspired by lunar eclipses, viewed in astrology as being deeply transformative times. A lunar eclipse can be an extremely powerful time for cleansing our emotional waters and setting intention for renewal and rejuvenation. As with Eclipsis, Eclipses are rare because they can only take place when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon are all aligned.

 

When Venn and Eclipsis are pulled together their lines reflect and compliment one another, bringing together our emotional and spiritual self in perfect balance.

About the Artist

 

Halima Cassell FRSS is a British sculptor working in many materials. She was born in Pakistan and grew up in England. Her work is described as having "strong geometric elements and recurrent patterns that are often inspired by the repetitive motifs found in Islamic architecture and North African surface design.
