About the artist
Born in 1974, Dan Broughton grew up in Otley, West Yorkshire, in an artistic family. His father was a lecturer at Bradford Art College as well as being a regularly published illustrator. His two sisters and a brother would all go on to forge careers in the arts.
Broughton studied Fine Art at the University of Humberside, graduating in 1996 he was invited to take part in that years Northern Graduates’ Exhibition, a group show at the Royal College of Art.
After some years living in London, working at galleries and Christie’s Auctioneers Contemporary Arts Dept. Dan and his partner settled back in Otley where he started a small business.
Dan now manages his business to accommodate his painting practice and family life, he has a home studio and works with a select handful of independent galleries, showing his unique brand of architectural abstraction.
