About the Artist 

Alvin F Irving is an award winning ceramic artist and water colourist from Lancaster, UK

 

His hand thrown and hand painted contemporary ceramics in porcelain and white earthernware are decorated with wry imagery with pictorial underglaze brushwork.

 

Irving studied studio and industrial ceramics at Lancaster Art College and previously worked as an artist and pattern designer for the Jersey Pottery and for the famous Coalport pottery in Stoke on Trent.

His work is held in the collections of the Topfereimuseum,  Raeren, Belgium, Metropolitan University of Manchester, The Potteries Museum, Hanley, Stoke on Trent, The Celestial Seasonings Teapot Collection, Boulder U.S.A. and The Lancaster City Museum
