About the Artist

“It is likely that the ‘inner world’ of our Western psychological experience  originates in the loss of our ancestral reciprocity with the animate earth”

                    -   David Abram, The Spell of the Sensuous, 1996

‘NOA’ Artist Alyson graduated with a First Class BA Hons in Fine Art and a Master of Arts before studying the traditional drawing and painting techniques of the Old Masters at the Atelier of Fine Art in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Her creative preoccupations surround the spirituality and mythology of nature, land and place, whilst recognising man’s increasing disconnection with the natural world … despite our ultimate destiny, to once again become part of nature itself.

Alyson’s creative practice incorporates the traditional media of graphite, charcoal and oils, often integrating the time honoured oil paint palettes of the Old Masters with the alchemy of Wet Plate Collodion to create unique, atmospheric contemporary artworks.  Alyson’s passion for relearning techniques almost lost in time led to her involvement with hand made chemical photographic techniques, including the Platinum, Collodion and Daguerreotype processes, incorporating these antiquated processes into her contemporary creative vision.

Alyson’s work is exhibited internationally, including shows in Manchester, London, Europe, New York City, and the USA, with gallery representation in Manchester and New York.
